Have you ever felt that when you acquire something—whether it's an object, an experience, something expensive, something rare—you feel deeply satisfied, but that feeling of exhilaration doesn't last?

Feelings of superiority and security are fleeting, and one soon desires the next object of desire, and interest in the object of possession does not last long and fades away.

And, without realizing the reason why this happens, one repeats a cycle of gratifying selfish desires with things that stimulate the sensory organs—deriving only fleeting satisfaction—only to be subsequently tormented by a sense of emptiness and vague anxiety.

The reason this happens is that while your ego is busy every day trying to satisfy its desires in the phenomenal world, your soul senses that the abundance you can obtain in the phenomenal world is an illusion, that it is impermanent.

It is said that in the distant past—approximately 13.8 billion years ago—fluctuations occurred in the space that constitutes the cosmos, triggering the Big Bang and setting in motion the entirety of the universe.

The fact that a fluctuation in space occurred implies that there was something there before it, something that we cannot comprehend, but which can only be described as being there.

In ancient India, for the sake of convenience, this "something" was termed *Brahman*.

It was precisely because this primordial reality—formless, nameless, and transcending conventional notions of existence—eternally abided there that all things unfolded.

This means that *Brahman*—that primordial reality—is one's ultimate ancestor, source, final destination, and true nature.

So, why are we alive right now?

It is because vast amounts of latent karmic impressions from past lives remain; we are born as humans to purify and eradicate them, and to advance the evolution of the soul.

In other words, simply wallowing in ego and pursuing self-interest within this phenomenal world does not purify the latent impressions of worldly desire—it actually increases them.

Your true self, your soul, realizes that you are drifting away from the truth of the universe, and therefore, no matter how much you acquire in this world, you will never be truly satisfied.

All things that originated from Brahman are impermanent.

And since what we gain in this impermanent phenomenal world is also impermanent, our true self, our soul, remains unfulfilled.

Your true nature is the very abundance of that primordial reality which brought this phenomenal world into being; thus, from the perspective of the soul, worldly wealth is utterly insignificant when compared to the infinite abundance of that primordial reality.

The ultimate purpose of being born as a human being is to return to Brahman, the fundamental reality.

If one holds a conviction-based trust in this perspective, one’s actions while living in the phenomenal world will be guided not by the desire to satisfy the ego, but by the desire to fulfill the soul’s aspirations.

Furthermore, one becomes able to dedicate every action and its outcome—at every moment of life—to a higher power, entrusting the results entirely to that source.

Instead of continuing to act out of selfish desire, you will learn to surrender to the flow of the universe and be naturally guided to take action when necessary.

As you purify your worldly desires in this way, your attachment to worldly things will gradually decrease, all your worries will be resolved from their root, and you will be able to live with peace of mind anytime, anywhere.

By constantly shifting our awareness from the ever-changing and impermanent events of this world to what lies behind visible events, to Brahman, the foundation that supports all things, we can eventually return to true abundance, which could be called the homeland of the soul.

It is natural to satisfy the senses and experience the full range of human emotions—joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure—within the phenomenal world.

Yet, if you have ever wondered about that lingering sense of emptiness—that feeling that no matter what you acquire, your heart remains unfulfilled—then the time has come for you to explore the universal truth.

You are reading this blog now because your soul has evolved and improved, and you have reached the stage where you can learn the truth of the universe.
